The Banderas Bay is about 100 km long and it is one of the largest bays in Mexico. Water sports abound across the Bay from surfing, snorkeling, boating and some great fishing. The yearly rainy season from June until October makes the water warm and full with food, which of course, attracts the fish and helps their size. That is why November to March are the best fishing months in Puerto Vallarta and the Banderas Bay. This is when the yearly Marlin Fishing Tournament takes place as well as few other local fishing competitions.
